Cement. Concrete. Aggregates. Holcim Croatia is a part of the Holcim Group, one of the world's leading suppliers of cement and aggregates (crushed stone, sand and gravel). We also supply ready-mix concrete and asphalt and provide related services. Our vision is to provide foundations for society's future. Therefore, our key objective is to create value according to the principles of sustainable development. Beyond the contribution within its sphere of influence, Holcim aspires to go one step further in encouraging sustainable construction. Thus, in 2003 Holcim established the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction. The foundation is funded by Holcim and partner universities which actually create programs, are assuring its independence from commercial interests of Holcim: Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich, Switzerland), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, USA), Tongji University (Shanghai, China), Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City, Mexico), Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil) and University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa).

In Croatia, we operate one cement factory, two cement terminals, eight concrete plants and three aggregates quarries. Holcim continuously monitors changes in customer needs and markets, in order to create the appropriate offer. Our approach to the demanding quality control process was recognized and awarded with the Hrvatska kvaliteta (Croatian Quality) label, for one part of our product range.

The strategy of recycling and the energy efficiency are present in all our business segments through the use of alternative materials and fuel, and the Holcim cement plant in Koromačno is one of the most energy efficient in Europe. In the segment of aggregates, we are active in revitalization of the quarry simultaneously with the production process since 2006. In the cement segment we are giving a significant contribution to mitigation of climate change through an innovative approach to reducing CO2 emissions. All segments are ISO 9001 (quality control), ISO 14001 (environmental protection) and OHSAS 18001 (occupational health and safety) certified. Both in 2008 and 2009 we received the Corporate Social Responsibility Index, the recognition of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development and the Community for Corporate Social Responsibility of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce.
